God damned. Just when I'd almost convinced myself that my upcoming birthday wouldn't add a year to my age, something trivial goes and wrecks it all for me. Thankfully there's a silver lining.
There was an announcement today that Star Trek: TNG will be getting a 20th anniversary special edition DVD box set which hits store shelves on October 2nd.
The collection includes 50 discs (7 per season plus one bonus disc) and retails for approximately $440. I say there's a silver lining to this because I can add it to my Christmas list. I doubt anyone will actually buy it for me but a girl can keep hoping can't she?
Check out all of the DVD details here.
That's so freakin' shiny!

Oh goodness. I was hoping to have some time to get to the theater this weekend to catch up on a few films I've missed over the last two weeks but I'm not sure that's going to be possible.
I need to record the VIFF and October previews for the site, have an assignment due for Film class, have a bunch of reading to do and a whack of notes. I'm going to try to get everything done tomorrow and then spend Sunday at the 5th Ave. Theater where they're showing a load of movies I want to see, certainly enough to fill a few hours.
It's all tentative though, we'll see how it goes.
Finally back to semi-normality and to celebrate, today's KFF is particularly special. If I was an artists, I'd call it "Pensive Keanu".
Have a great weekend everyone!

"Firth’s life really changed when he emerged, sodden-shirted, from the lake as Mr Darcy in the BBC’s 1995 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. The screenwriter Andrew Davies recently revealed the plan had been for Darcy to be naked. Firth had “a bit of the usual tension about getting your kit off” but thinks it remained sexy because we “rerobed, not disrobed, Austen”"...
Read the entire story over at Times Online. It's a great read.
Oh, Firth is *fabulous*.
Wow. Is she ever.
Brazilian super model Gisele Bündchen recently did a shoe add that featured her in a water dress. Yes, a dress made of water.
I was curious so I searched it out:
Oh god. I'm not sure if I'm a moron or just crazy. A few months back I made plans to go with some friends to the Def Leppard concert. I somehow managed to get into my head that the show was on my birthday, the 28th.
So for 2 weeks D has been asking me when the show was. I kept saying the 28th and then Monday he told me he thought he'd heard on the radio the 27th.
"It can't be the 27th! That would mean it's on a school night and to boot, a school night when I have an in-class essay on Virginia Woolf's 'A Room of One's Own'!"
"Double check honey," he says rather smugly.
"Fine, but I know you heard wrong!"
So I check ticketmaster and lo-and-behold, the show is on the 27th.
ARGH!!! WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE? I've been looking forward to this for months and now I can't even go. I just hope we can find someone who does want to go so I can recoop some of the ticket cost.
Worse part is that now I have to find some other way to celebrate my b-day. YUK.
Show just ended.
Damned it I hate cliffhangers (but I love twists)!
Have got to borrow VCR from mom and dad...
I should be reading but I just can't help myself. Am instead watching Beauty and the Geek.
It's official. I'm a geek.
Show hysterical. Wondering why I'm typing in such short sentences. Like mini thoughts.
I think reading "Bridget Jones' Diary" in 2 days has done something to my brain.
Still, show is v. good.

I'm not sure what it is: his rugged "older guy" good looks, his potty mouth of his apparent ability to create genius meals (I've never tried them so I'll take someone else's word for it).
What ever it is, the final package is a guy I couldn't stand for the first then minutes I ever saw him and then started to grow on me.
Here's a clip from his new show "Kitchen Nightmares":
You can get a whack more videos here.

Woohoo! The video's are up! :)
Check out the line of cars coming down the hill.... We're at 3:18 and again at 4:46
And our fantabulous organizer was on the other side of the road also recording. We're at the 1 minute mark!

Yesterday D and I headed out for our first cruise with the car club down to Mt. St. Helen's. Met the small group (5 cars) out before the border, headed down and met up with another group. Along the way, before meeting up with the second biggest group at the base of the mountain, we had an envoy of 14 cars.
But that's nothing, when we pulled into the lot at St. Helen's there were a bunch more cars waiting. Didn't look like that many until we pulled in to the first overlook and started filling in the overflow parking lot
Yes, 38 [Edit: Apparently, the final count was 48 cars - and no, I didn't count them in the picture] cars take up a lot of space. Check it out:
Spot our beauty and get bonus points...
Apparently, we made the news too. I read on the forums that during the noon newscast it was mentioned that the station had received a call from state patrol that a "large group" of custom cars (I guess when you put us all together we all look custom), were making their way down the I-5 and causing all kinds of trouble! Not sure at "trouble" but we did get a lot of onlookers!
D and I actually went into the observatory at the top of the mountain and while in there, we lost the fellow Canucks so the drive home was much quieter (confession: who knew walkie talkies would come in so handy? Yes, there is a method to our madness) and D was exhausted so we had to stop a few times. Walked in the house at 10:30 and by 10:45 we were both snoring.
It was a fun filled day and a great way to meet some of the group members. Great bunch of people, everyone was super friendly and the organizers did a fantastic job. I can't wait for the next one!
I took some picture, which won't be posted until tomorrow but in the meantime, check out the pics of the event care of a fellow LXer Mr. Galloway.
Now we just have to wash Mean Mary...
P.S. We didn't get to see the mountain.
It's official. Ours isn't just some by-the-way-side movie website.
I find it really hard to believe that we've made the Movies.com Buzzbin for a second time on pure chance.
I have a feeling Mike or someone that work's for him reads the site regularly.
Check us out - we're Item 11.
It's days like this when NOT running a website on my own would be a saving grace.
The bloody thing went caputz yesterday when I tried to upload a new index file after a friend pointed out that some badware had managed to infiltrate itself somewhere or other.
Now that's fixed (12 hour or so later) but Google has the site flagged as "This site may harm your computer." FREAKIN' HELL. What this essentially means is that the site is NOT showing up on the Google searches. This is BAD, BAD, BAD. I've requested a review but this could take a few hours and I'm not sure we can jump back from this mess. And just when things were looking up.
I'm so darn frustrated and sad. Really sad that all my hard work could go down the drain because of some asshole with too much time on their hands and nothing better to do than to kill little sites.
I'm at the point now where I don't even want to read another news story.
Coolest darn think EVER.
