So it looks like after 10 years, Queen is making a comeback!
According to this article, the band will be releasing a new single that will be available for free, on their website, to commemorate World Aids Day.
Please, don't take this the wrong way because I love Queen but I have a feeling this is their way of putting out feelers to see if they can still make a comeback. Personally, I'm all for it - I'd love to see them do another tour. Even without Freddie.
For nearly 4 days I've been trying to get this up at Mad About Movies but the site just isn't cooperating and now I've somehow managed to reach my upload limit for the month. It's just one freakin' problem after another but I will get that mess all sorted out.
What you all need to know is that, much earlier than I ever anticipated, MAM has closed it's doors and myself and the other contributors have moved to a new, bigger site which went live on Monday. A few of us other like-minded webmasters decided that rather than covering and recovering each other's material, it would make sense to have it all in one place and so, Row Three was born.
The collaboration so far has been fantastic and the site is quickly finding new readers which is fantastic. A new home also meant an opportunity for us to change the name of our podcast and we're now known by the much better name "After the Credits". Brilliant eh? I can't take credit for it though...it's all Colleen's doing.
So when you have a minute, go on by and check us out. I've updated the sidebar feed with Row Three rather than MAM recent posts which should make it nice and easy.
If all goes well, I can get MAM up and running again for the weekend, allowing the official closing post and podcast.
I FUCKING hate this. BIG TIME. Now that I figured out what the problem is with MAM, I can't fix it because the bloody FTP access is down. WHYYYYYYYYY MEEEEEEEEEEE??
Sometimes, things just work out.
Dale, Colleen and I went into Blockbuster tonight to check if they carried Black Sheep and, of course, I ended up in front of the previously viewed DVD shelf. I wasn't going to buy anything but then I spotted The Lives of Others for $9.99. Then I spotted Black Snake Moan for $9.99. Since I already had two, I figured I'd jump into the 3 for $24.99 deal so I also picked up The Painted Vail. On the way to pay, Dale spotted the cheap movie bin and digging around in there I found Denys Arcand's Stardom for $4.99. Never seen it but he's a great director - why not?
I thought I was finished, I did, and then I saw Hard Candy at a steal of a deal for $6.99. In the end, I walked away with 5 movies for $40. Not bad for $8 a piece.
I'll have to make another trip. I spotted Little Children, Perfume and a third title I can't remember on the shelf for the $24.99 deal.
Damned you Dale! It's all your fault! ;)
So it's Thanksgiving long weekend for our American friends and to celebrate, here's something a little fun:
Have a great holiday everyone!
I was going to say that I'd just seen the best commercial ever but then I remembered that I recently saw another one which was *really* good. So here we go, to great commercials.
On a wicked side note, I went to see the brilliant No Country for Old Men last week and they played that gorilla commercial. BRILLIANT!

Wow. This is so frakin' cool!
One of the groups I belong to, namely The 13th Colony which is a BSG fan group organized through Meetup.com has been discovered. By Wired.com! Check out the story on the home page - right at the top under Entertainment. It's titled "Battlestar Fans Get a Glimpse of 'Real' Caprica".
Or, you can just click here!

I was just watching this video interview with Hayden Christensen and the thing that kept going through my head was how much he looks like James Dean.
Am I crazy or is there some resemblance?

At least I shared the same thought with The Bad Astronomer when I saw the above picture over at How I'm Becoming An Astronaut. Turns out, it's some sort of aircraft built to test/perfect heat shields.
Could have fooled me.
I'm sure if I'd ever been inclined to look this up I would have noticed the connection but it's always more thrilling when you figure things out on your own.
So last night I was up pretty late trying to finish a scene analysis for my film class. I'd totally forgotten that this thing was even due but for some reason, at lunch yesterday it struck me. It's actually not a very difficult assignment but the fact that we had to include secondary sources sort of threw a wrench in the whole thing. That, along the fact that I had to choose a film that was listed in our text - not all that daunting considering that there are loads to choose from. I started with the idea that I'd cover the opening scene of Interview with a Vampire which brilliantly sets up the film but, I couldn't find any supporting sources. Then I thought I'd go with the unlikely choice of Clueless but, alas, I still couldn't find supporting evidence so I turned to George Lucas for help.
As is typical with dystopian future movies, THX 1138 has been dissected on a number of occasions so it was pretty easy to find SOME supporting material. I dug up my copy of the film and set off to find the perfect scene. Unlucky for me, there aren't that many scenes that have enough going on for analysis though as a whole the film does have a lot to say in a long, drawn out sort of way. I'll admit that it's my nice, roundabout way to say the movie is a little boring at times.
But I'm side tracking again. So I'm watching the movie, trying to pick a scene and I come across a good one where THX is watching "tv" and more precisely, he's watching a man being beaten by a police officer with a baton. The sound is clear and distinct and I had the feeling I'd heard it before and then, without even listening to the song, I knew it was the opening sounds to NIN's "Mr. Self Destruct". So this morning, I did listen to the song and indeed, I know I'm right but alas, I needed reassurance so I dug up this. Two things about that link: 1) it backs up my findings and 2) how freaking cool is it that NIN has it's own wiki!??!?!
So I can't find a video of the scene (though I'm going to track one down or create my own) but I find THE song and you can listen to it here:
Oh, just as a side note, the other scene I was considering is the re-birth scene in Interview when Louis is born as a vampire.
But that's enough jabbering for now. Off to do some work!

So I had these plans for the weekend that completely fell apart. Other than a productive Saturday, Sunday was a bit of a bummer of a day and to make matters worse D pretty much talked me out of going out to see "No Country for Old Men" which means I'll now be heading down on Friday to see it - if all goes well.
As for today, rather than doing homework and watching a movie I have to watch for tomorrow, I wasted the day away watching back to back episodes of "My So-Called Life". Oh good god, I can't stop watching. I know I need to but I simply can't turn it off. I've shed more than one tear and laughed more than once....it's brilliant. But I WILL turn it off after this episode. The last on disc 3. Promise.
BTW - My crush on Jared Leto has returned. Oh boy.

It's almost the end of the work day on a Friday before a long weekend. Nothing much I can complain about other than the never ending coughing fits that still hit me occasionally. I have 3 days of rest and relaxation coming up so I'm very excited. Not really all rest though as I have a bunch of reading to do for school and a scene analysis to finish for film class but it's all 'fun' stuff so that's ok. My one major plan out of the house this weekend is going to be a trip to the video store to pick up a couple of movies. Since I have a western I have to watch for next week and a few others that have been highly recommended, I've decided to do an all western Sunday. Should be fun. Titles for viewing will include "Duck You Sucker", "The Proposition" and "Tombstone". What a great trio.
But enough mumbling. Here's the triumphant return of the KFF. Have a great long weekend everyone and remember to remember.

Kevin Smith - yes, the director - and I are now friends. On Facebook at least.
Check it:
Oh yeah. I'm COOL!
But how young is too young?

I did well yesterday, I really did.
Came home from school at 10:20. Made something to eat, talked to a few people online. Made lunch, cleaned up and went to bed at 11:20 (hurray!) unfortunately, coughing fits kept me awake until 1:20 when I finally got up and decided to sit on the couch since sitting seemed to stop the coughing. It worked and I slept through to the alarm.
I have to pick up some drugs tonight to get a good night sleep. Otherwise, I'll be sleeping on the couch again and two nights sleeping sitting up isn't exactly ideal.
If anyone can recommend anything for a cough, please do. I'm suffering here. Badly.

I haven't died but I have sort of fallen off the blogging bandwagon. Not sure what it is but sometimes, I just can't figure out what exactly to write about and when I do have an idea, I don't get the time to actually write it down.
No excuse. It's just the way things have been lately.
What a good way to come back though.
Over the weekend, I bought myself a little something extra special. I mean, super duper special. I bought the special edition complete series DVD's for My So-Called Life, a show which was a favourite of mine when I was in highschool and one that still angers me when I think back to how great it was and how unceremoniously it was axed.
I curled up with the pilot last night and from the opening scene, I was instantly sucked back into Angela, Rickie and Rayanne's adventures through school life and to my own miserable existence those first few years of HS. Things did get better for me later, as I'm sure they would have for Angela but we never had a chance to live those moments with her. Not to mention, the show was canceled on one of the biggest cliffhangers in TV history.
I'm really looking forward to diving into this world again. Meeting all the friends again and re-living some of those oh so familiar situations.
Thanks to Shout! Factory for giving the series the DVD release it deserves. Be sure to head over there to check out a bunch of clips from the show.
