As usual, I was cruising through YT looking for something or other (at the moment I can't remember what it was) and something caught my attention in the sidebar and after a click, I was listening to Apocalyptica.

A heavy metal band formed in Helsinki in 1993, they became famous a few years back for playing Metallica covers...on their cellos. Yes, you read right: they're a heavy metal outfit centered on four cellos. And guess what? They're even more kick ass than you're imagining.

I wanted to share some of the Metallica covers but I wanted a video rather than images so you could see the guys in action and I found this concert video of the band performing "Master of Puppets" live:

Admittedly, I prefer their version of "Fade to Black".

And they don't just do Metallica either. They've built a career on heavy metal cello's and to prove it, here's a kick ass tune titled "Path":


I love this sound! Wonder if there's more like this kicking around that I just don't know about...
