Stressing over Sunglasses

Why does stuff like this always happen to me? WHY???

Boss lady asked me to track down some sunglasses today for a birthday gift. Turns out, they're brand new and none of the local stores have them in stock. The result, I had to order a pair from some folks at Metrotown. To make matters worse, she's decided to order the pair from a store closer to North Van. The result? I've placed an order for sunglasses that I don't want and after talking to the sales girl this afternoon, it looks like I'm stuck with them. Good god. I haven't paid for them but I've given them a credit card number that was necessary to place the order.

I don't really want the glasses but it looks like I'll be stuck with them. Does anyone have any experience with stuff like this? Do I *have* to keep them or if I don't want them, can they charge the credit card without anyone signing for it? Help?

Relief

Last weekend I had a bad Sunday. D and I made our regular trip to Costco but I decided since we would be doing shopping and then coming right home, I wouldn't take my bad. Instead, I grabbed my wallet and sunglasses.

Things are going well, we do our shopping and pay when I realize that I'm missing something. At some point during our shopping, I put my sunglasses down somewhere. Typically, this wouldn't be a huge deal but I happen to own a very expensive pair of Dior glasses. And I'd just lost them. I was angry at myself for being so careless and after the initial grief and shock, I went back into the store and tried to retrace my steps but couldn't find them and with thousands of customers about, I figured they were gone for good.

This weekend was a bit of a write off so D and I went to do our shopping on Monday night. While waiting in line to pay, I thought I thought I'd go check out customer service to see if, by any chance the glasses had been turned in. I didn't think there was a hope in hell someone had turned them in after all, they are $400 sunglasses. I tell the lady what they look like and she goes off a little further down the counter and pulls out a basket and a glass jar full of stuff. I tell her the glasses are just loose, not in a case. She brings out a third jar packed with glasses. She pulls out the first set, a pair of gaudy things with huge rhinestones on the side that make me wonder if someone lost them on purpose. She looks at me expectantly but I shake my head. She pulls out a few more pairs and right at the bottom she pulls out a pair of black sunglasses with shell side accents. OMG. My sunglasses.

I could have cried. Instead, I jumped up and down with joy, thanked the woman profusely and walked away with my sunglasses.

D was beside himself. He was happy for me but angry too. He lost his glasses in a church in the small town of Vulcan, Alberta. I lose mine at one of the busiest stores in Vancouver and still manage to get them back.

Yes, I realize I'm very lucky. Thank you to the generous soul who found them and turned them in. I can't thank you enough.
