I'm not one to complain too much about the weather (trust me, there are folks who make a much bigger deal out of it) but when it's rained this hard for a few days, not to mention it's been cold as winter, I'm ready for a reprise. However short.

Oh man. It's been a bad evening/morning.

Last night I was supposed to meet my movie group for a screening of "Seven Samurai". Since I wasn't meeting the group until 6:30, I decided to stick around the office to make up some of the lost time from last week's major snowfall. BIG FREAKING MISTAKE. I mean HUGE MISTAKE. I was doing some filling when, at 5:45, all hell broke loose. I can't go into details but lets just say that the entire project, the only thing we're working on at the moment, was a pin's head away for falling through. I spent the next two hours digging through files trying to put together an emergency package for the lender. NIGHTMARE.

I actually considered going to the movie but since I've already seen it and I was going to miss the first hour (not to mention I was irritated), I went home instead and took out my frustrations on Guitar Hero. I've now completed my career in "Easy" mode and have moved up to "Medium" and HOLY SHIT, it's hard. Love it.

To make things all that much better (drip sarcasm) it was SNOWING at my place this morning. Big, wet, ugly flakes that were actually sticking and making the roads a disaster. We made it as far as 6th before I convinced hubby to leave me there to catch a bus. He turned around and headed to the highway to make his way to work. When I talked to him, he'd made it in one piece. Freakin' snow.

Still have to check if classes are still on for tonight. Apparently it's supposed to turn to rain but then, they didn't predict that the snow was going to stick either...GAH!

Oh man. If I thought the weekend snowfall was something, I didn't know what was coming.

I failed to upload a picture this morning, I'll have to do it later, but we have a good 10 inches, INCHES, of snow at our house. Let's just say it was interesting getting out this morning. I finally made it to work at 10AM.

Not in rhyme though I wish I could make it rhyme. Strong language follow so please, look away if you have problems with profuse swearing.

This is to the asshole in the car driving 60 on the inside lane next to the sidewalk with no regard for the poor pedestrian walking in the pouring rain. Yeah, I'm talking to you dipshit! You in the grey sedan that nearly showered me in sewer water this morning.

You're not the only one on the road and to make matters worse, you're staying dry while I have to balance coffee, an umbrella and my bag not to mention now having to watch the road for idiots like you who are out to make my day that much worse.

I am exhausted.

I was up really late finishing up and uploading the most recent podcast (May's upcoming small movies - the blockbuster edition is coming up - which can be found here) I'm so tired I'm even skipping my regular Friday get-together and going home to cozy up in bed with a movie. The fact that it's like a winter day outside doesn't help matters any.

Other stuff to do this weekend: re-record with fellow bloggers (my player failed to record one of our shows), sleep, watch a few movies and generally just relax.

Oh, and I discovered yesterday that David Lynch's "Inland Empire" is going to playing in Vancouver for a limited 1 week engagement. I have to find some time over the next few days to buy my ticket!

First English class yesterday and it was great. I love the material and the prof seems really good as does the class. It's a small one, only 10 of us, but so far it's made for great discussion and it's proving to be one of my faves. Lots to read for next class but then, I have the weekend to catch up!

More snow today. It was still snowing when I left the house this morning. Gross. I don't mind snow but this is getting out of hand. Just when you think it's over more snow falls. The big problem is that it's snow on top of snow and when it gets really cold, it freezes. Thankfully, we haven't had too much of that yet but it's still difficult to walk through various layers of packed snow. On the bight side, it's been a bit warmer the last few days.

Other than that, it's been pretty uneventful.

This morning really sucked. I stood out in the freezing cold waiting for an earlier bus to make sure that I made it to work on time since, you know, we got hit by ANOTHER snow fall. Stupid early bus never showed up and so I figured I'd be OK for my bus but, lo-and-behold, it was late too and when it finally showed up, they both showed up. I got to work 15 minutes late but boss lady was OK with it because she knows I always make the effort to try to get here. It's nice that she's pretty understanding about stuff like that.

I just registered for Northern Voice which is the Canadian Blogging Conference. I'm excited to meet some fellow bloggers and to get some tips and learn some more about blogging in general and, hopefully, blogging for money.

As for the Golden Globes, the sidebar isn't showing it yet but I did write down some thoughts on the movie portion of the awards show. It can be found here. As for the TV side of things, I was happy to see Ugly Betty recognized since it's one of the few new shows that I've gotten into and really enjoyed and Amy will be happy to hear me say that I really like America Ferrara and her little speech was quite nice. In general, I enjoyed most of it and it was nice of Sacha Baron Cohen to makes us laugh. I was also quite impressed with Warren Beatty's and Streep's acceptance speeches. Good for a few laughs. Oh, and I was impressed with Streep's comment on smaller films and how they're not shown on enough screens. I'm pretty sure it probably won't make much difference but it was nice of her to mention it. Everyone looked fabulous (never once did I say "What the hell is _____ wearing!?!?!" which is a ncie change) but I was particularly impressed with Jeremy Irons' little outfit. The show made for a nice evening in front of the TV.

Fairly quiet day today which is nice considering I had a busy day yesterday and really need a bit of a rest. I was going to go to the movies tonight but a combination of snow fall warning and the fact that the Golden Globes are on tonight is enough to get me to go straight home.

I don't really have much else to report except that we had a great meeting yesterday and we're working on a great little surprise and step forward for the movie site. I'm really excited and can't wait to kick it off.

I'm headed back to work now. Maybe I'll even get to write my reviews today. We'll see.

TGIF is all I can say. It's been a cold and miserable week and it looks like it's not going to get any better with the snow that's forecast for tomorrow. I hope it stays put because I have a busy weekend ahead of me. It's been particularly cold the last few days. I'm actually not too bad with the cold but the Westcoast cold isn't quite the same as the cold (with windshield) in Alberta. When I was outside of Calgary in the dead of winter a few years ago, it was something like -30 outside. Yes it's cold but if you bundle up you're ok and as soon as you get inside, you start to warm up almost immediately. Out here, the cold is different. It's 'wet' and really seeps into your bones and when you come in out of it, it can take hours to warm up again. That's been the case the last two days. It's brutal.

As for the weekend...plans with the GF's for tomorrow (if it's safe enough to go out) and Sunday I'm taking my sorry ass to the movies for the day. With school now back, I can't go out evenings during the week and so, weekends like this one, when more than one movie I want to see is playing, I have to resort to spending an entire day at the movies. Not to worry though, they're all good flicks and so you'll be seeing a review for "Pan's Labyrinth" and "Letters from Iwo Jima" early next week.

It's been a busy (and interesting) day. To boot, my fingers are freezing at the moment, I think the boiler may be down. Again. They should really either fix or replace that bloody thing. It's down more often than it runs!

Snowed like crazy yesterday and I had a good few inches at the house last night. My dad had to pick me up at the skytrain station as the bus look where I catch my bus was closed and D was stuck out in Langley until almost 8PM. It was a total nightmare. This morning it was better but bitterly cold which just caused everything to freeze. Not good. I did take some pictures of the snow but, alas, I left them on my PC at home so I'll have to post them for you all tomorrow.

In the mean time, here's thoday's stupid thing. It's the first one that's actually made me laugh.

More snow. We had 2 inches when I left the house this morning and I stood in the freezing cold waiting for the bus, another 1/2 inch fell, some of it on me. I got on the bus and was caked with snow. Not fun. The commute was surprisingly good but then, I leave the house really early. The accountant, who comes in from further out, is still not here and she's called the boss lady to let her know she's going to be about another hour. I don't get it. If you knew it was going to be bad weather out, wouldn't you leave the house earlier? Maybe it's just me but that seems like the thing to do. Oh well.

First class went well. Looks like it's going to be an interesting course though it focuses more on western religions that I had expected (I thought it was going to be more of a mix). I like John and the class is a good size for discussion plus it sounds like most of the folks in there know what the hell they're talking about. Should be good. There is one girl at the front that pisses me off (and we had a short class yesterday). It's funny really. The prof is obviously not impressed and he shakes off her comments with little remarks that, to me, sound like he's trying to tell her that they're not appropriate. We'll have to see how it develops.

I had a big problem with some of the blogs yesterday. For some reason, nearly all of the blogs I visit regularly stopped working. Looked like it may have been a problem with google and all seems well now!

Other than that, things are fairly quiet. Hope everyone is having a good hump day!

I've been a bad blogger. Things have been busy these first few days of 2007 and I've been running around like a mad woman. It appears that it's slowing back down to regular pace around here though so I should be back to normal for next week.

Lots has happened the last few days. I am now an official full time employee as of Jan. 1st. Signed all the paperwork yesterday and, after almost 8 years of various temp jobs, I'm finally full time staff with the full package. It's nice that I've already been here for so long so it's was just a matter of filling in some paper work. I figure this will be good for the next few years as I continue to trod along on my degree with the final intention, to either do a library sciences master or a teaching degree (with film/cultural studies) as a main focus. I figure I like movies so much, I may as well do something worthwhile with it. Of course, this is the plan now but who knows? Maybe the review site will take off and I can do that full time. That would be sweet (to use a term that's totally 90's).

I'm a bit miffed at the weather man. Last night, I checked the 11PM news to get heads up on the weather for this morning. The verdict was for flurries over night and then showers in the morning with the snow gone by the morning commute. Imagine my surprise when I looked out the back window this morning to find this. Sorry guys, I tried to upload the pictures but Blogger isn't cooperating.

Thanks to my inability to upload pictures at the moment, this also means that I can't post today's KFF. Bugger. Instead, I'm going to entertain you with another segment that will become a regular for the year. Wow. I'm not sure what we did to deserve this mess but it's been an insane couple of months - weather wise at least. Over night, starting at 6PM but really kicking into high gear sometime near 2AM we got hit by a major storm, one that local media was referring to as a "mini typhoon" and for good reason too. Sustained winds of 80km/h hit the lower mainland causing lights out for thousands - including transit. Poor D was heading downtown this morning to pick something up at the college and so I was riding with him. We made it half way there (to nearly Broadway for local readers) before D gave up. He left me at Nanaimo and headed back. Surprisingly, transit wasn't too bad but for good reason. Power was out on the line in New West and Surrey and trains were only running from Waterfront to 22nd (where I usually get on). Strangely enough, both D and I made it to work on-time. Damage at the house included a portion of the fence being down so I moved it off the road before we left. Other than that everything seemed to be OK. It still looks really windy out there but it's clear skies. Looks like some of the bridges are still closed but I can't be sure. This stupid radio station doesn't give a lot of traffic updates.

As for me, the weekend is shaping up to be a quiet one. Lots of movies to watch, readings to complete and food to eat. Dad's birthday is Sunday so we're having a little family dinner. It'll be really nice. Other than that, pretty uneventful.

Because I had the same pair and you can't mistake those anywhere. I now have a pair of their new ones but they've changed the design slightly. I was going to try and avoid starting my post with more weather talk but I just can't help myself. More snow yesterday which really left a mess at my place (read: snow on top of ice). Things were not too bad this morning on the main roads but getting out of the house was not pretty. I started to freak a little so I caught a ride with my dad early this morning. I got to the office at 8AM. A whole our early. Good thing I have a new addiction...

It's a good thing I wasn't going home right away last night. There was a problem with skytrain that had the system in shutdown for nearly 2 hours. NOT fun. Especially for the folks on board. Yikes! By the time I headed home everything was back to normal and I had no trouble getting home. Even in the snow.

Tonight I'm scooting out of here early because I have to trek my ass over to the college to sort out my registration woes. Hopefully, it'll be quick and simple so I can head home for the first real night of rest since this entire snow debaucle began.

Well, the weather is still wonky here with more snow scheduled for this afternoon. I'm used to this nightmare now though the morning commute has been a little worse than usual. I nearly had an attack when I woke up a bit later today and started freaking that skytrain wasn't going to be running and I was going to end up coming in late. I was wrong, got here with plenty of time but I could have done without the worry.

Other than that, things have been relatively good. I found out yesterday that I have been mysteriously de-registered from the system at the College and since the computer can no longer process electronic applications (it's after the general deadline) I have to make my way to school either tonight or tomorrow (the only two days they're open late) to fill out some paperwork to get myself back into the system. What a nightmare. I just hope the snow tonight doesn't put everything on hold.

Other than that, it's been pretty uneventful except for the arrival of the Airbus A380 - the biggest passenger plane currently flying. It's HUGE. WOW. Talk about a crazy couple of days for BC. Snow fall started Saturday night and well into Sunday and yesterday was whiteout conditions throughout most of BC and the lower mainland. The kiddies got to stay home and got to work late (thanks Transit!) but otherwise, the day went off fairly well. I was up to my nose in promo stuff yesterday trying to get a document together for this morning. I was even here until 6 - everyone else left right at 5PM. It's days like yesterday that make me wish for that new computer to have arrived already but I checked the status and it's not supposed to arrive until Friday. Bummer. Back to the weather...at my place, we have about 3 feet of snow which has not made life easy. Today's big problem is the ice. The windshield is WAY up today and everything is frozen solid. A good day to stay home bundled up with a blankie but no such luck, I'm back in the office.

Wow. Out of the blue a MASSIVE storm hit Vancouver with winds up to 150km/h. It was nuts! One minute is was drizzling and the next thing you know, power lines are down everywhere and there's a massive storm in process. Now it's sunny outside. This is insane! The Dragon Lady calls me this morning at about 9:30 and asks me to call Hydro because her power is out. I call them and report the outage and call her back to let her know that no one else had reported it yet. She calls me again at 10:30 and asks me if I've followed up. And her tone suggested that I should have figured out to follow up on my own. WTF? Lady, you never asked me to follow up. Oh well. The boss man just went over to the house because she can't figure out how to open the electrical gate manually. I had a bit of a chuckle at that.

If I hadn't seen it with my own 2 little eyes I would NEVER have believed it. My movie site….it's beat out IMDb – the movie BIBLE. When you do a search for "the host english trailer" you get me in first and THEN IMDb. And it's not like this is some little movie no one's ever heard about either! This is the biggest box office draw in Korean history and a soon to be huge North American flick. I can't begin to tell you how exciting this is! Keepin' it short today. Computer is all wacky wacky. Not sure if it's the PC itself or the internet connection but something is messed up...badly. I think it may have something to do with the howling winds and pounding rain but that's just a guess.

Anyway, it's been a frustrating morning and I can only hope that the rest of the day will calm down a bit but for now, here's today's KFF. I decided on something a bit different for this week. Last night I was on YouTube looking at something completely unrelated and clicking around I discovered this little video. Enjoy!

Ugh. I didn’t get anything done this weekend. A meeting on Saturday afternoon left me exhausted in the evening. D and I managed to go out to do grocery shopping and then headed home for the night. Sunday we headed downtown to meet with a friend. That extended from early afternoon since, after the movie, we headed back to our place for dinner. It was nice but the entire weekend just seemed to fly and I'm just as tired today as I was on Friday.

We're being pounded by the Pineapple Express today. TONS of rain expected and howling winds. It's disgusting outside. I brought out "big red" (my water resistant winter jacket) today and the super size golf umbrella and managed to stay relatively dry during my commute until the walk from the Skytrain to the office. I found out that my boots are leaky. I'm not sitting here with wet feet. It's very uncomfortable; so much so I may still take my shoes off. This means that I now have something else to buy. I hate shoe shopping. I'm not sure what to do from now until I find the boots. It's supposed to rain like this until Wednesday! I may have to break down and look for boots during the week!

I also didn't manage to take any pictures for my Photo Hunt Meme. I'll try taking them tonight for tomorrow. Back to work now. I have a stack of papers to type up!
