In a recent interview (don't ask me which one, I can't honestly remember) Pattinson brought up the idea that "New Moon" and "Eclipse" should be shot back to back, considering that vampires aren't supposed to age and, as we well know, humans have a nasty tendency to get older.
Reading the news around the web, it seems that this may be an option that Summit is considering. Floating around is news that "Filming begins on New Moon in March, 2009, and will continue right through completion of Eclipse." The New Moon starting date was already well known but the second bit of news is fairly new. It's a good move on the studio's part but it doens't take away from the sting of the recent news that Hardwicke isn't coming back for the rest of the franchise.
