I haven't had a chance to check out the extended scenes yet (been too busy to track them down on You Tube and quite frankly, I'd rather see them from the comfort of my couch with crisp, clear images) but I will get to it on Saturday, just in time to record one of our upcoming Before the Dawn podcasts.

Be thankful that I didn't subject you to squeals of excitement at the release of 10 seconds of the "Eclipse" trailer (not to mention the trailer itself [you can read my thoughts on that here]). It was difficult as hell too considering that 1) we haven't seen much by way of publicity on "Eclipse" and 2) I love me both this book and director David Slade.
The "New Moon" DVD hits store shelves next week and it includes a preview of "Eclipse" but of course, that clip is already online (don't fret, I've tucked it at the end of this entry). I just saw it and I'm impressed. The trailer was a nice tease as to what we could expect but this behind the scenes video is even better. I'm happy to see some of the things I disliked in "New Moon" have been fixed (namely the make-up and Alice's hair!!!). It's still not a whole hell of a lot but what there is looks great!
Apparently today is the day when you can start pre-ordering "New Moon" on DVD from a number of retail outlets (including Amazon
). So how sad is it that I pre-ordered mine from HMV 2 weeks ago?
I happened to be int he store looking for something for hubby when I noticed all of the signage around. The deal: pre-order the DVD and get a film cell featuring either Jacob or Edward. We had a hard time placing the order since, apparently, I was the first one (yes, I realize this makes me even more of a geek). But yes, it will be mine. MINE! I'm thankful that this time around, Summit put a kabosh on the various editions they had for "Twilight." It was a job onto itself trying to track who was selling what edition. This time you get a choice of either a one or two disc. That's it.
I did notice that the online price is cheaper (by 5 dollars!) than the price I'll be paying in store. I've already tweeted HMV to see if I'll be getting the discounted $19.99 price.
And for the record, I really dislike this DVD cover art.
EDIT: Turns out Summit lied because Target just posted a 3 disc SE. I'm going to wait. I'm sure the contents of that third disc will find their way online sooner or later.
I know. New Moon doesn't "officially" open until tomorrow but across the world (if not the universe), people everywhere are taking in midnight screenings (which are actually taking place at 10PM). I am one of the millions that will be partaking in the event. So much so that I even took tomorrow morning off to recuperate.
So what's the plan for tonight? Well, a local Twilighter has put together a pre-party which I'll be attending from 6PM to 7PM and then, off to the theater to brave the sure-to-be-insane line-up. It's bound to be a fun night, even if initial reaction to the film has been less than stellar. My review should be up tomorrow morning.
As for the blog, I promise to be back soon. I have lots (LOTS!) to share!

Summit, smart cookies that they are, waited until after the weekend to release the new "New Moon" trailer, the same trailer which was attached to "Bandslam". It did leak out on Friday but the bootleg was very poor and I refused to watch it until the official release. The fact I managed to hold off for a few days surprises even me.
It's interesting that they've released a trailer which features Taylor talking through most of it. On the one hand it's great for the fans (since "New Moon" centres a great deal on Jacob) but a bit annoying. Not too much new footage but enough to advertise the much better effects. I can understand that Jacob's shirtless moments are part of the story but it makes me feel a little awkward. That said, what's the deal with this image which I captured from about the 1:44 mark of the trailer:
I also rewinded the trailer a few times but not for the reason you might think (and yes, I would admit it...you know I would if it was Edward. Though there is one scene...). I rewinded a few times to Jane because I wanted a better look at the character but gave up after the third try. It's too quick and the video not high-quality enough to get a good sense of what the character looks like. That said, I can't wait to see screen captures from the trailer. I'm sure those will start popping up soon.
Moving on, you don't really need more words from me. Chances are if you're a diehard you've already seen this but just in case...
UPDATE: Big thank you to Thinking of Rob for super awesome screencaps. It's still a bit blurry but they have one of Jane which looks very promising.

A new trailer for "New Moon" is scheduled to hit the public on Friday in front of "Bandslam" but the folks at Summit have released 14 seconds of the trailer in an effort to excite the fans (like we really needed any more fuel).
Not new footage, it's a shot bit that was screened at Comic Con, but it's something. Sadly, it will fail to elevate the excitement of a large chunk of the fanbase as it's a Jacob scene. What about Team Edward damn it!

Or at least that's what it feels like.
Two weeks ago, just in time for me to record an episode of Before the Dawn, my handy laptop crapped out on me. It turned on, worked fine but no internet. Hubby looked at it and concluded that it could be any number of things and that since the sucker wasn't under warranty, it would cost a bit of money to fix - much more money than the computer was worth. And so, with a heavy heart and not a whole lot more, we headed out shopping for a new laptop. To be honest, I didn't want to spend the money but it's essential I have a computer that works and considering that in the 5 years I've been working on a home computer, it's been a second hand laptop, the time had come to buy something which was new and state of the art (for at least 30 minutes). After hours of scouring and many questions, I came home with a shiny new Compaq.
The very next day, hubby and I were cruising around Metrotown when we spotted a new kiosk selling skins for our iPhone/iTouch. I flipped through a few of the offerings but nothing caught my attention and I offhandedly made a comment to Hubby that since it's not Twilight, I don't feel the need to impulse buy. I came home empty handed but content, having completely forgotten the conversation until Hubby calls me over to his computer to take a peek at what he's looking at.
The conversation went a little like this:
Me: You've got to be kidding me.
Hubby: I wouldn't kid about Twilight.
Me: You don't have to make fun of me you know.
Hubby: I'm not making fun.
Me: And you talk about me having a problem. You're the one feeding my addiction!
At this point, I'm guessing you know what he discovered. Fancy "Twilight" inspired skins for my iTouch. After much hmming and haaing, I decided on this pattern:
And while paying for those, Hubby found laptop skins. Rather than adding stickers to personalize my beautiful new laptop, I chose to purchase a fab skin. I had a hard time deciding between them and finally had Hubby make a decision. We picked this one and I rationalized that by the time "Eclipse" is nearing release, I may be ready for another skin:
Thank y ou eBay and Hubby for the small spending spree. I recently also discovered Etsy. It's been very hard but so far, I've mostly stayed in control. Except for that one slip this morning...

Or at least this Monday does. I was not feeling all that well this morning and seriously considered staying home. But then I started thinking of how hot and uncomfortable it would be at home during this week of record breaking weather and I opted to head into the office. I barely made it but arrived with a killer migraine that even had my ears hurting and I swear I was in a cold sweat. It was uncomfortable and painful for until about 10AM when the drugs started kicking in. I'm feeling much better now but still now 100%. Here's hoping I'm feeling a bit better for the movie tonight.
Lots to report on from the weekend but the pictures are still on my camera so that report will be coming tomorrow but I do have some fun stuff to share. The first is part 3 of the "New Moon" video set tour. Yes, this is the one where I have a total fangirl moment but thankfully, it's not quite as bad as I thought it might be. Thanks again to the guys at Movie Set for making the videos possible. They were great fun.
As a bonus, I also get a jab in at Eric. He deserved it.
As a little bonus, I noticed a video making the rounds this morning but because it was on MTV, it was only available to our American friends. Big kudos to twilightbritneyfan1 for making this available for the rest of us. I've never been much of a Jennifer Love Hewitt fan but I admit that seeing this video made me like her a tiny bit more. Plus, I don't feel like such a dolt.

If you missed it - I'm not quite sure how that could have happened considering the video was everywhere - be sure to check out part 1 of my awesome three part Video Tour of the "New Moon" filming locations; a little project I took part in for Movie Set.
In this episode, we get a look at the theatres and the location where the break-up scene was filmed. And because I'm so awesome, you also get my very, very bad Kristen Stewart impersenation. As I explained to Dana (aka Robsessed83), at least I had a moment with Edward. And it was captured on film. Enjoy.

And part one (of three no less) is live! Yes, yes. Weeks of works comes into fruition. Check out part one of my set tour is up.
Enjoy!

So you may recall my trip into the woods a few weeks ago in search of "New Moon" filming locations. At the time, I was preparing for a hush hush project which didn't have a firm filming, never mind release date, but I'm happy to report that it's pretty much done and I can talk about it...sort of.
I spent my Canada Day in the company of two very funny guys, a producer and a videographer shooting video for an upcoming special (which I am now being told will be two 5 minute shows) on the "New Moon" filming locations. It was a long day of too much sun, driving and improvisation but it was also a whole lot of fun. I was nervous when we did our first take of the day - mostly because I've never been particularly comfortable on stage, I don't really know the guys or their long running rapor and acting was never my strong suit. The guys and the producer made me feel really comfortable and things did get better as the day progressed and though I was exhausted at the end of the 9 hour day, I would love to do it again....we'll have to wait and see how disastrous the first one was.
I didn't take too many photos throughout the day but I did snap a few and here are some of the good ones.

I'm working on a secret project. I say secret because it hasn't officially been announced yet but we're working on it and it will all be clear in a few days time but that doesn't mean I can write about it and I *do* so want to tell you all about it since it's pretty much consumed my life for the last week.
The details are still top secret but I've been asked to work in a little project for a local site which ties in to the "New Moon" filming which recently wrapped in Vancouver. My job: track down some of these locations and boo hoo - this was much more work than I had expected. I managed to find the locations of the houses and I knew the parks they'd shot at but didn't know where so what this meant was a reconnaissance mission.
Last Thursday I grabbed my mom and we went scouting out Robert Burnaby Park which is just a few blocks from my place. We walked the entire park (a two hour feat) comparing some photos that a friend had sent me with the trees and bushes. We couldn't find it but walking out of the park in the same direction we walked in I spotted an area just off the trail which looked familiar and after standing around holding out the pictures we had with the surrounding area we came to the conclusion that that was the place. Can you believe it? We walked all over the park and the location was right there at the point of entry. On the up side, I took some fantastic photos which you can check out in this flickr set. Here just a few of my faves:
My mom was a total sport and got right in there with me and for that, I thank her - I doubt it would have been as much fun without her.
On Friday night, I took a walk through Burnaby's Central Park in search of yet another location. I knew they'd done some filming at the public pool there and headed in that general direction. I was looking for the location of the break-up scene and of the meadow, both of which we get to see in the new trailer. You realize this meant taking screenshots of the trailer right? Yes - I've reached a new level of obsession. These are the screenshots I was working from:
I found the meadow! After my blunder at RBP, I decided to stick to locations that are:
1) Easily accessible for lighting, cranes etc.
2) Near a parking lot (for the rest of the trailers/cars required on a set).
It was actually quite easy to find as it's one of the few wide open spaces at the park and though the grass is now greener than it was at the time they shot this, it's the same location. As for the location of the break-up...I just couldn't find it. Not that I didn't try either but none of it looked right!
But yesterday, I was checking out some of the photos I'd uploaded from the last few days and it struck me - OMG. I was looking in the wrong park the whole time. I was certain they'd filmed the breakup at Central Park but couldn't figure out what had been filmed at Robert Burnaby (though I had it from a *very* reliable source that the crew had been there). And then looking at this photo, it struck me. See if you can figure it out:
Is it as obvious to you as it was to me when I looked at it? The break-up was shot at Robert Burnaby! I told hubby when I got home on Friday that the trees at Central Park just don't look right - they're too small and the branches come down too far to the ground (unless you're in the *middle* of the bush which would be impossible for this particular scene (I'll explain why it's impossible in a second). But the trees at RB are perfect. Large old growth trees with very high canopies and to boot, the greenery around the trees seems to fit the shrubbery in the shot. As for why I don't this it was shot int he middle of the bush - check out this screenshot from the trailer:
Though from this angle it's not completely apparent, if you watch the trailer you'll notice the camera movement - that there's a crane shot which means an open space with no trees. I couldn't believe I'd missed it when I originally uploaded my pictures but looking at them now it's so obvious that it's RBP! Yes, I was pretty ecstatic when it struck me!
All this work will start to pay off later this week when the project is "officially" announced but let me tell you, I had a great (if frustrating) time scrounging for locations. What I've learned from all this: for "Eclipse", I'll have to try spotting locations (at least parks and stuff) while filming. This will avoid wandering around nearly blind after they've gone!
Stay tuned! I'll be announcing the project details in a few days time!

I very rarely watch, never mind re-post, fan-made trailers but when something is this good, it's well worth sharing on every possible avenue. Yes, there are some very talented people out there and Twilight fandom has its fare share and tiffanyd666 is definitely one of them. Check out this trailer she put together for "New Moon":

What kind of fan would I be if I didn't post this? Awesome...until the last few seconds. Someone please tell me that they're still working on the wolf effects.

With "New Moon" filming in town, loads of fans have started to come out of the woodwork. I haven't bothered to stalk the set - I'm too busy for that - but I love meeting other fans so when I got word that a few ladies were coming into town for the weekend to enjoy the weather and hopefully do some "sight seeing", I made the move and asked if they'd be up for coffee.
This morning, we met and it was great fun. We talked about the trip, the movie, the filming and just general banter. It was awesome to meet other fans and I hope their weekend of set searching is rewarding - they definitely deserve it!
Here's the crew:
You can check out the ladies in action daily over at What the Forks?! and don't forget to follow along in twitter!

As expected, the New Moon cast was in town for a few days for pre-production work (meaning preparation for filming). Though the crew wasn't on set, they weren't holed up in some hotel room either. They were spotted and pictures snapped everywhere from Robson and Granville Streets to hanging out outside their trailers.
At this point, it sounds like everyone's left for a bit but will be back. Will share more information as it becomes available.

I'd heard via the grapevine of a "New Moon" filming location but I didn't want to post it until I had confirmation and now I've been given the word.
"New Moon" will start shooting at Van Tech in March. At this point it's not clear what sort of filming in going on - I'm assuming it's only principal photography but it has been confirmed. Feelers are out to find the dates but at the moment, all I know is March. If you have a tip, be sure to leave a comment or drop me a line.
