I thought it was lost. Wouldn't you if you ordered something which was shipped the day before it was released and had been in the mail for three weeks? Yes, that's how long it took this sucker to get from whatever Borders warehouse it was shipped from to my front door, regular parcel mail. I know what you're thinking: why would you even *bother* ordering from the US if you can buy the same exact DVD around the corner? 'Cause it's not the same exact DVD - the cover of this one matches my copy of "Twilight".

I haven't had a chance to check out the extended scenes yet (been too busy to track them down on You Tube and quite frankly, I'd rather see them from the comfort of my couch with crisp, clear images) but I will get to it on Saturday, just in time to record one of our upcoming Before the Dawn podcasts.

I know. New Moon doesn't "officially" open until tomorrow but across the world (if not the universe), people everywhere are taking in midnight screenings (which are actually taking place at 10PM). I am one of the millions that will be partaking in the event. So much so that I even took tomorrow morning off to recuperate.

So what's the plan for tonight? Well, a local Twilighter has put together a pre-party which I'll be attending from 6PM to 7PM and then, off to the theater to brave the sure-to-be-insane line-up. It's bound to be a fun night, even if initial reaction to the film has been less than stellar. My review should be up tomorrow morning.

It's been a while and his new TV show is still a few weeks away (as is the film) but here's a little something to tide us over...

It was quite the weekend! Not only was the weather fantastic but it was a weekend full of first times.

Colleen (AKA Mary Ostler) invited Dale and I out to a local SCA event and since I'd always wanted to go but never had the opportunity to check out the SCA in a more "up close and personal" sort of way, I tagged along (not to mention it gave me a good excuse to wear my fabulous dress from a few years ago - a dress which I slaved over and have only worn twice - three times now!).

SCA is short for Society for Creative Anachronism and it is comprised of 19 Kingdoms one of which is An Tir. Colleen belongs to the Barony of Lions Gate and the event was the Lion's Gate Sergeantry Trials. I had a wonderful time at the event which included combat, a war trial, dancing and archery.

I had to leave before the archery really kicked off but huge thanks to Colleen for the invite. I had a great time and the costuming bug has pricked me again. I have a few ideas for my next project which I'll have to start researching.

I only made it out to Saturday's part of the event but there was much more action on Sunday, including the successful applicants being awarded. Lionsgater has some great photos of the entire weekend which I urge you to check out. Also, big kudos to Colleen who managed to snap the single photo there is to prove I was in costume. We planned on doing a mini photo shoot to show off my craftsmanship but sadly, I had a minor problem with the belt of my dress and spend the last hour or so of the event with an incomplete costume. I will have to fix the darned thing and have the photo shoot at some point in the near future but here we go:


I left the event early because hubby had made plans with some friends for dinner. Sadly, while I was getting ready for us to go out we received a call from the friends in question cancelling. I was very upset that I had to leave the SCA event only to have our evening ruined so hubby made it up to me by taking me, for the first time ever, for White Spot carhop. It was an awesome experience though a little more difficult in our car considering that the windows on the Charger are up higher than on most cars but still, it was fun and much less messy than I expected.

As we were driving away trying to figure out what else to do, I suggested the drive-in and hubby, perhaps still feeling bad about the dinner thing, agreed so we drove out to Surrey to take in a night of movies at the Lower Mainland's last drive-in.

Located at 260th Street and Fraser Highway, the Twilight Drive-In has it all: massive screen, great prices ($12 per person for 3 films), awesome concession stand and fabulous classic intermission commercials. Admittedly, hubby and I weren't prepared (no blanket or pillows) but heck, it was still awesome and now I know what to expect for our next trip out there and yes, we're definitely making another trip.

We caught "G.I. Joe" which I had already seen (so I napped through a good chunk of it) and "Orphan" which I really enjoyed. We decided to skip the third movie which happened to be "Terminator Salvation". It was loads of fun and I can't wait to do it again - probably in two week's time!

And as a bonus, I found the intermission reel they show between movies. Hubby explained that the honking when the hotdog jumps into the bun is tradition. Good to know some things will live on for ever.



It was a fun filled weekend of first and I managed to use some of Sunday to recuperate but I'm still feeling a little tired from all the excitement!

I just realized that you might not know who Pocket Edward is. Well, he's my *other* partner in crime and 'cause he's so awesome, he's always in my bag...ready for action. I've started documenting his adventures of Flickr so if you're interested in following him around, that's the place to do it.

However, Pocket Edward did make an appearance at a screening of "Moon" (which was very good - review coming to Row Three next week to tie in with the film's opening in Toronto and Vancouver on July 3rd) and I didn't snap any pictures but my bud Dale did and of course, I harassed him for the goods and he, being the super guy he is, complied. So Dale the Photo Dude gets ALL CREDIT for these totally awesome shots!

He'll probably have a few more awesome shots at Digital Doodles so stay tuned to that space for his review.

On to the show:

All in all it was a great evening with great friends, hubby (who hides behind me in every picture. The nerve! *evil grin*), Pocket Edward and a fabulous movie!

I'm  very excited to be meeting some local Twilight fans for a "Girls Night Out" event tonight. On the docket: drinks and dinner followed by the 9:45PM screening of "Little Ashes". I'm sure you can figure out why we're seeing that particular film.

I'll be thinking about this guy to get me through the rest of the gorgeous day I'm spending in the office in front of a computer and a filing cabinet.

The full meal deal is coming on Sunday but for now, here's a taste found via amyburrows.

With "New Moon" filming in town, loads of fans have started to come out of the woodwork. I haven't bothered to stalk the set - I'm too busy for that - but I love meeting other fans so when I got word that a few ladies were coming into town for the weekend to enjoy the weather and hopefully do some "sight seeing", I made the move and asked if they'd be up for coffee.

This morning, we met and it was great fun. We talked about the trip, the movie, the filming and just general banter. It was awesome to meet other fans and I hope their weekend of set searching is rewarding - they definitely deserve it!

As expected, the New Moon cast was in town for a few days for pre-production work (meaning preparation for filming). Though the crew wasn't on set, they weren't holed up in some hotel room either. They were spotted and pictures snapped everywhere from Robson and Granville Streets to hanging out outside their trailers.

At this point, it sounds like everyone's left for a bit but will be back. Will share more information as it becomes available.

It's not enough that The A-Team movie will be shot in Vancouver. If you're a hardcore fan, and trust me, there are a lot of us, you'll likely love all things related to the 80's TV show. I don't have memorabilia but whenever I skip by the show on TV I can't help but stop and take in the greatness of Hannibal and his classic "I love it when a plan comes together." Iconic I tell you, iconic.

I thought this would be a great time to share the opening credit sequence (which I love) but looking for it I spotted this lego version which kicks a whole lot of ass. Enjoy!

I'd heard via the grapevine of a "New Moon" filming location but I didn't want to post it until I had confirmation and now I've been given the word.

"New Moon" will start shooting at Van Tech in March. At this point it's not clear what sort of filming in going on - I'm assuming it's only principal photography but it has been confirmed. Feelers are out to find the dates but at the moment, all I know is March. If you have a tip, be sure to leave a comment or drop me a line.

 This past weekend hubby and I, along with nearly 200 of our closest friends, gathered together at the Vancity Theater for what is easily one of the, if not the, event of the year: "Star Wars" on the big screen. And I don't mean from DVD at some ham-fisted thrown together event. We're talking pristine 35mm prints of the three films that defined a generation of sci-fi fans.

Vancouver SIGGRAPH's SPARK Festival is wrapping up tonight but the group scored a huge coup when Lucasfilm agreed to release a set of the re-release 1997 prints of the original trilogy. For whatever reason, Lucasfilm openened the vault and Vancouver became only the second place the films have screened since their release in '97 (my understanding is that the other screening was at ILM in conjuction with some event they were running). How cool is THAT????

It was a marathon unlike any I've ever attended and I'll be the first to admit "Star Wars" isn't my favourite entry into the sci-fi genre but it was awesome to be able to share the event with hubby who was indoctronated into Lucas' world when he was a pup of 6. I must also admit that seeing the films on the big screen with the volume turned up to 11 was one of the greatest experiences of the past few years and I now have a new appreciation for the films.

It was a pretty awesome experience and an opportunity that will likely not come up again any time soon.

SPARK wraps up tonight with screenings of "The City of Lost Children" and "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers". If you're interested, tickets can be purchased online at their website or at the door.

Since speculation about this has been so high, I decided that the short announcement required its very own post. According to Stephenie herself, Taylor Lautner will be returning to reprise his role as Jacob in "New Moon".

Good news indeed. I guess all of the lobbying paid off!

To go with the DVD packaging, we now have confirmation, via the folks at Monsters & Critics, that the film will hit the shelves on March 21st.

Still no release date or specs on the DVD but Summit has released the cover art for the 2 disc special edition release of "Twilight".

Turns out that this is turning into a bit of a "Twilight" blog and apparently, I have all the answers. Well, I don't have all the answers - I'm just a fan yet, I've had a few people contact me about the DVD release of the film. I posted a few details earlier but in case you missed it...

I have no idea when the film will be released. In an interview, Catherine mentioned Spring of 2009 and there's been talk of a release between February and April though if I had to guess, I'm thinking later in the year considering the film is still doing so well in theatres.

As for the DVD itself, Hardwicke has talked about a number of deleted scenes which will appear on the DVD release including a scene from "Midnight Sun". You can check out all the details of that from an interview at MTV. Unfortunately, that interview isn't available to folks outside the US and I can't seem to find it on YouTube but if you know where it's at, please leave a link in the comments section. I found this but it appears to be only a portion of the interview.
