Street performers are not exactly a new thing in Vancouver. Walk around town for any amount of time and you're bound to bump into one or two. Skytrain stations have buskers and you can often spot them along the Granville Entertainment District (though they're not exclusively limited to this area) but one of my favourites is the juggler who I usually spot at Granville Island. It's been a while since I've seen him and can't quite remember what he looks like but I came upon this performer yesterday while wandering the streets in the middle of the afternoon.
He had quite a crowd of both young and old gathered on the corner of Granville and Robson. I'd missed half of the show but managed to watch a few tricks. The first is this flying plane trick which, to be honest, is only memorable for how it ends.
This may explain a few things...
Do you want to see a girl (I did) hyperventilate? Show her this:
It's been a while and his new TV show is still a few weeks away (as is the film) but here's a little something to tide us over...
Hubby watches a lot of YouTube videos and over the weekend he was watching this video. I wasn't sure what he was up to but loved the song so I took a peek to notice him watching this breathtaking video. Called the Kuroshio Sea, this video was taken at Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in Japan which boasts the world's second larges aquarium holding 1,981,290 gallons of water and, as you can see from the video, a huge variety of fish (including sharks!).
Or at least this Monday does. I was not feeling all that well this morning and seriously considered staying home. But then I started thinking of how hot and uncomfortable it would be at home during this week of record breaking weather and I opted to head into the office. I barely made it but arrived with a killer migraine that even had my ears hurting and I swear I was in a cold sweat. It was uncomfortable and painful for until about 10AM when the drugs started kicking in. I'm feeling much better now but still now 100%. Here's hoping I'm feeling a bit better for the movie tonight.
Lots to report on from the weekend but the pictures are still on my camera so that report will be coming tomorrow but I do have some fun stuff to share. The first is part 3 of the "New Moon" video set tour. Yes, this is the one where I have a total fangirl moment but thankfully, it's not quite as bad as I thought it might be. Thanks again to the guys at Movie Set for making the videos possible. They were great fun.
As a bonus, I also get a jab in at Eric. He deserved it.
Yoshi (AKA Jess), one of the lovely ladies at What the Forks?! Had an accident the other day. To help her feel better, I made this funny little thing but can't figure out where the link is (they're only giving me an embed code) so I thought I'd post it here.
This one's for you girl...the only way I know how to make things better: making people laugh (usually in the wackiest of ways).
Sis and I have come to the conclusion that we need to go to more shows. At least once a month. We're not teens anymore but going to shows together is always awesome fun, we always have an adventure and I always leave with a spring in my step that lasts for a few days. It's a great feeling and one I'd love to experience more often.
I heart the bunnies. And here they are performing "Twilight" in the usual style; in 30 seconds.
Unfortunately, the folks at Starz don't believe in sharing so you have to head over there to check out the goodness, at least until someone adds it to YouTube.
UPDATE: It keeps getting added and deleted. Here's the most recent upload.
So how do you escape the paparazzi? If you're Taylor Momsen (Little J from "Gossip Girl"), you run away parkour style.
The folks at Just Jared speculate that this is actually a commercial for Nike and I can't help but agree with them still, it's a whole lot of fun (not to mention genius and fitting with the show's fanbase).
Check it:
I've mentioned in the past how much I like Gordon Ramsay and this is right up there on the list of best parodies I've seen all year.
It's called "Little Ramsay" and they're a series of commercials for Caterer.com which is a job search board for careers in hospitality. These aren't exactly winning commercials (mostly because I didn't know what the heck they were advertising until the end) but they're certainly memorable and completely hysterical.
Gotta give it up for Canadian boy Alex Trebek. He's been hosting Jeopardy! since 1984 and I can't imagine the show without him plus, it's always a little weird seeing him outside of Jeopardy! It's like something's missing...
Mike Shinoda posted this hysterical video of Trebek apparently drunk. Not sure where it came from but it's priceless. And warning: there's a bit of swearing involved.
Yes, it's true. Even the cool and collected Keanu can blush when complimented. This video is a few years old but I stumbled on it while searching for videos from the promotional tour for "The Day the Earth Stood Still" which opens on Friday.
I'm dedicating this video to the fans that feared that Keanu had been dethroned. All I said was that he had competition - and that's still the case.
Oh dear. I'm going on a limb to assume that this is a take on some music video but considering I watch everything on-line and pop isn't really "my thing", I can't begin to guess what video this is based on. However, I do know that this cements Andy Samberg as one of my favourite funny people.
I was laughing so hard I had to cover my mouth. And here is the GREATNESS of "Jizz In My Pants":
Completely hysterical. I particularly love the post end title note about Jacob. Very funny and well worthy of your 3 minutes.
This morning Twitter was abuzz with talk of Macy's Parade Rickrolled. I couldn’t figure out what everyone was talking about until I saw the video below. If you don’t know what rickrolling is, basically it boils down to posting a link that appears to go to something else but ends up pointing you to the Rick Astley song “Never Gonna Give You Up” which was a big hit in the late 80’s. The video is pretty funny. So funny that I cried a little.
I dont' make a point to avoid them but for the most part, I don't watch too many interviews with actors/directors before films come out but I was sent a link to an interview with Robert Pattinson (who plays Edward in Twilight) and I did watch/listen to it.
It's a very good interview and I'm really impressed with the insight Pattinson gives into the character and how he plays it. I'm still not sure, as the interviewer asks, if he doesn't completely look silly in the film (vampires always tend to look a bit silly) but I am impressed by the interview.
It's 7:15AM. I'm up, showered and ready to go. We're leaving shortly. Meeting the group going down tonight at White Spot for some breakfast and chat before the trek to the border. I hope to go we leave early, I have a feeling it'll be a long line-up.
Thankfully, this time I'm prepared. The new in-dash stereo Hubby put in plays DVD's. I packed 4 DVD's (approximately 8 hours of goodness) for the possible border line-up.
Before starting to type this, I felt like I needed some inspiration. I recently saw The Silence Before Bach and though the film itself was interesting if a little on the artsy side, one scene took my breath away and lucky for me, it's on YouTube. I've been listening to this on repeat for a few days whenever I need a pick-me-up.
