Alex Trebek Has a Few Too Many

Gotta give it up for Canadian boy Alex Trebek. He's been hosting Jeopardy! since 1984 and I can't imagine the show without him plus, it's always a little weird seeing him outside of Jeopardy! It's like something's missing...

Mike Shinoda posted this hysterical video of Trebek apparently drunk. Not sure where it came from but it's priceless. And warning: there's a bit of swearing involved.

Try not to "Jizz In Your Pants" While Watching This

Oh dear. I'm going on a limb to assume that this is a take on some music video but considering I watch everything on-line and pop isn't really "my thing", I can't begin to guess what video this is based on. However, I do know that this cements Andy Samberg as one of my favourite funny people.

I was laughing so hard I had to cover my mouth. And here is the GREATNESS of "Jizz In My Pants":

Spilling the Beans

Sort of. "Harry Potter or Twilight?" The response is pretty funny:

Twilight: The Puppet Saga

Completely hysterical. I particularly love the post end title note about Jacob. Very funny and well worthy of your 3 minutes.

Did YOU SEE THIS?

Dear god, what's going on. This is beyond crazy:

The poor guy. He looked mortified. Looks like Team Edward is in the lead.

LOL

The Silence Before...

It's 7:15AM. I'm up, showered and ready to go. We're leaving shortly. Meeting the group going down tonight at White Spot for some breakfast and chat before the trek to the border. I hope to go we leave early, I have a feeling it'll be a long line-up.

Thankfully, this time I'm prepared. The new in-dash stereo Hubby put in plays DVD's. I packed 4 DVD's (approximately 8 hours of goodness) for the possible border line-up.

Before starting to type this, I felt like I needed some inspiration. I recently saw The Silence Before Bach and though the film itself was interesting if a little on the artsy side, one scene took my breath away and lucky for me, it's on YouTube. I've been listening to this on repeat for a few days whenever I need a pick-me-up.

Time to go. I'll be back tonight with, I assume, lots of photos! :)

Bollywood Fix

K sent me a video clip of a recent episode of "So You Think You Can Dance" when the crew goes Bollywood and it's pretty good:

Of course, the judges gush, gush gush.

Shortly after that, he sent me another link, this time of a comedy skit titled "White Guy Doing Bollywood" and wow, it's pretty hysterical!

Thanks to the abomination that is the related videos sidebar I also spotted this that made me laugh a fair bit:

And to redeem myself, something which is really, really good and not blinding at all:

Remembering George Carlin

I don't know much about George Carlin but I have seen a number of his skits. Carlin died yesterday and I thought to remember him with one of my favourite routines "Seven Words You Can't Say on TV". I warn you know, the language isn't really SFW but the bloody thing is damned funny.

We'll miss you George.

Crazed Naked Man, Semi Truck Chase & The Takedown

Chances are that by now you've all heard about the news story of the crazy naked dude to who, yesterday, stole a pair of overalls and a semi truck and caused all sorts of havoc around Maple Ridge (outside of Vancouver).

I get the sense that the Lower Mainland isn't a hot spot for car chases, we only see a few a year televised, but this is the first time I've ever seen a chase with a semi. Thanks to the gloriousness of YouTube, you can check out a big chunk of the chase. I prefer the short and sweet version which shows the police taking down the crazy dude:

It WILL Make You Laugh

If you don't see any other videos today, see this one. It's a GUARANTEED to crack you up.

Pepsi Takes the Lead - Again

The commercial fights between Pepsi and Coke continues. I've always been a bigger fan of Pepsi the drink but Coke's commercials always seemed to be on the cutting edge until a few years ago when Pepsi too a strong hold with their Generation Next commercials. I love that branding and the ads that came with but I haven't been really blown away by any of their commercials lately...until recently.

I'm used to seeing the shortened 30 second spot on TV but here's the full Superbowl ad for Diet Pepsi Max. Makes me smile every time:

Nerdcore for Nerd Grls

Made me giggle uncontrollably. Thanks to the Bad Astronomer for the video.

First New Kids Single - Right HERE

I'm not happy. I can't say I had anything specific in mind as to what I expected from their first album in over a decade but I can say that now that I've heard it, this isn't it. I just hope the rest of the tracks are a bit better than this.

Video found care of the A.V. Club.

Move Over BBB - New Kids Are Back!

You know that New Kids on The Today Show bit I mentioned the other day? The YouTube gods spoke and the video is up. I'm a bit disappointed, mostly because I'd expected a longer segment and maybe a little singing but I'm not surprised that didn't happen, especially considering the endlessly screaming fans. You can barely hear anything over the screaming. What struck me most is that as the camera panned over the crowd, I noticed that only a handful of people looked old enough to remember the NKotB first hand. I feel a bit old after seeing that. Check out the video:

Poking around I also found this People.com clip which was kind of fun:

Looking forward to hearing some new material!

Steve Wiebe is My Hero

One of them at least.

Even since watching "The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters" I've had a not so secret crush on Donkey Kong champion Steve Wiebe. Not only is he a bit geeky (I'm sorry, anyone who attempts world records of video games is a little geeky), he's cute and just seems like the nicest of guys (mind you, I haven't met him...I'm just assuming).

This morning I was doing some reading when I stumbled on this article which somehow landed me in Google and consequently on YouTube. There I discovered this fun video of Wiebe doing a commercial for the Alamo Draft House (pretty funny):

Then I found this song which was written and produced by Ryan Wiebe, Steve's brother, titled "Chimpatized" and it too is pretty funny, and pretty sweet too!

This third one isn't quite as good but it features Steve being super amicable in the face of a jack-ass.

YouTube Makes My Day. Again.

My mom is not computer friendly. While my dad makes the effort to read the news daily, I'm pretty sure mom has no concept of how to even turn the computer on.

Since hubby is on his road trip and I'm home alone, I went up to spend some time with her and cruise YouTube for Portuguese language content - that always makes her smile. An hour later, and gosh knows how many hundreds of clicks later, we do a search for something or other that leads me to stumble on what is likely the greatest commercial. EVER. Mom has informed me that it was in heavy rotation during the World Cup tournament but this is the first time I've ever seen it and it's BRILLIANT. But don't take my word for it. Check out Portugal vs. Brazil:

And of course, this IS YouTube we're talking about here so in come the related videos that will keep you busy for months but amongst much of the drek, I did find one of my favourite commercials from a while back. I call it, Elimination Chamber (trademarked, but not by me):

And Figo makes me a bit weak in the knees...

The Royals Join the New Century

Not sure who came up with this idea but someone somewhere thinks that the British Royals are popular enough to deserve their very own YouTube Channel.

I'm not sure about older generations but I sort of get the feeling that the Royals' appeal has been sliding on a downhill slope since Charles and Di's wedding and Di's death was probably the end of the infatuation with the Royals for many a folk. I certainly don't care and I'm wondering who on earth does?

The folks that are interested probably don't use YouTube and the folks on YouTube probably don't care. It is, however, an interesting approach to regaining some of their cultural influence.

Thanks to Laurie for the link.

Folding - Like a Pro

So we've all seen the Japanese folding video but if you're like me, that video is so fast that you can't quite figure out what was going on. Then today, I found this video. Thanks to the kid who put it together.

I'm so going to build myself the folding machine!

I'm having a hard time balancing the movie blog and regular postings here but hopefully, now that things are under a little more control, it'll be smoother sailing.

The extra posting I've been doing the last few weeks has really grown the size of the blog to an even and steady number of daily hits and at this rate, we may actually get to 20,000 page views per month in June. That would be a FANTASTIC accomplishment.

Going to a Drupal meeting tonight to learn a little more about design. Hopefully this will lead to a kick-start in the re-design of the website.

Not much else to report at the moment but I'd like to share this cool video with you. It's pretty darn funny.

Sorry for the lack of posting yesterday folks. I was busy compiling an hour's worth of 'fanish' commercials. Wow. Not as easy as it sounds considering they're all an average of 30 seconds long which means, I need a lot of them.

It's been an uneventful few days and the weekend is going to be just as quiet. I'm really looking forward to Sunday when a few friends are coming over to work on a very special and ultra top secret (not really) project that I'm REALLY looking forward to. Can't wait! Other than that, a few rentals to get through, a couple of papers for Philosophy and some more Chaucer to read through.

I've sent out my Oscar party invites. I'm very, very excited. This year, I'm moving the party to one of the bigger rooms in the house and we're going to be watching it on a bigger than usual screen. D and I are breaking out the projector. Oh yeah baby. It's going to be AWESOME. We just need to figure out how we're going to pump the sound out....

I gotta get back to work. I have a bunch of stuff on my desk that I need to get through before the end of the day.

Here's a little something I discovered during my YouTube cruizin' last few days. It's today's KFF:

And to finish off, a stupid thing someone said...
Care to Rephrase that Department

Female TV news anchor to male weatherman, regarding snowfall amounts:

Where's that six inches you promised me last night?

on a Nebraska news show

Have a great weekend everyone!
