I'm a little ashamed to admit it but my holiday is never complete until I've played Boney M's "Christmas Album" from cover to cover.
Hope everyone is having a safe and happy holiday with friends and family!
Late in the evening last night, in a moment of delirium likely brought on by a combination of cold medicine and nail polish fumes, I agreed to make the trip to Metrotown with my little sister for some late night Christmas shopping.
It's the first time I've ever partaken in the tradition (for some) of late night shopping and I was expecting huge crowds and big lines. The mall was busy but nothing like I expected. It wasn't even Sunday shopping busy - it was more like Monday evening busy (I should know - I've spent quite a few Monday evenings walking though the mall on my way to the movies). I was done my shopping, just needed a few tins for Christmas goodies but sis hadn't even started. The power shopper in us, likely inherited from our mother, kicked in and we completed in record time. We arrived on site at 9:30 and by 10:45 we were on the bus heading home. Not too shabby!
The only thing left is to wrap!

And it won't even cost you a cent.
This must be part of that new math my Grade 10 Science teacher kept going on about all those years ago but frankly, I don't care because it's all for a good cause.
Via the ever fabulous Raincoaster, I caught wind that one little comment = 100 lbs of food:
Go to this post, read it and leave a comment and Tyson Foods will donate 100 lbs of food to the food bank for each comment received. No strings, no coupons, no mailing lists.Easy eh? So what are you waiting for? Get over there already!

The nice folks at Twilight Novel Novice have posted some cool Christmas themed Twilight desktops which are kind of fun along with some graphics that could be used in personalized Christmas cards that are sure to make your fellow fangrils scream with joy and glee.
As for the kid with everythign "Twilight", why not expand the horizons? Here's a good list of other books, movies and even TV shows that might be of interest to a fan. I'd like to add Baz Luhrmann's "Romeo + Juliet" to the list.
And if you're still looking for something unique, be sure to check out eBay. There are thousands of "Twilight" related items and there's still a little time to shop and make the Christmas delivery cut-off.

I haven’t really given my Christmas list much thought, mostly because of the recent spending spree but cruising around the web the other day, I stumbled on a very cool gadget.
I don’t really need another clock but this Pin Clock is very cool and would go nicely in the front room where we really need a clock near the TV. It looks like more of an alarm clock but it’s darn cool…

The madness continues! Looking for a special gift for that "Twilight" fanatic in the family? Something they can use and keep after-the-fact as a collectible item (seriously, this is getting a little out of hand…)? Here are two options:
Fandango, the online movie ticket site, has launched personalized gift cards and they’ve got one specifically designed for the Twilighters in the crew. Check it out below.
For the Canadians in the audience, the madness stretches across the border and Chapters is offering Twilight themes gift cards in denominations of $25, $50 and $100.
Happy shopping!

I love the holidays mostly because I love shopping. But not for everything. Books, movies, music, unique gifts – I thrive to find the perfect gift but most years, I leave it for so late I end up running around last minute for anything that’ll work. Not this year though. I’ve already started planning and though I’ve yet to make a purchase, I have a list and a plan of attack. That plan now includes my first trip to a poster sale.
The Pacific Cinémathèque is having their annual poster sale (great idea!) and I plan to be there bright and early to search the bins for the perfect gift. Who knows, maybe I’ll finally find something my sister can hang on her wall.
The sale is on December 6th and runs from 10AM to 2PM. Be sure to arrive early!

God damned. Just when I'd almost convinced myself that my upcoming birthday wouldn't add a year to my age, something trivial goes and wrecks it all for me. Thankfully there's a silver lining.
There was an announcement today that Star Trek: TNG will be getting a 20th anniversary special edition DVD box set which hits store shelves on October 2nd.
The collection includes 50 discs (7 per season plus one bonus disc) and retails for approximately $440. I say there's a silver lining to this because I can add it to my Christmas list. I doubt anyone will actually buy it for me but a girl can keep hoping can't she?
Check out all of the DVD details here.
That's so freakin' shiny!

Ok. So you guys deserve an explanation on the previous post. On Friday, I received an email from Fox Searchlight (the independent film branch of FOX) and they wanted to know if I was in one of three cities and if I was interested in participating in marketing (ie movie passes) for an upcoming release. I can't begin to tell you how amazing this is. It's not only a movie I'm excited to see but, more importantly, I've made it on a mailing list! Seriously one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me. So today, I'll be receiving a FedEx (OMG!) containing a bunch of promo stuff for the movie along with a bunch of passes to a free screening in early January and the movie, get ready for it, the new Cate Blanchett/Judy Dench movie Notes on a Scandal! So, if you're in the lower mainland, keep your eyes peeled at MAD About Movies because later this week we'll be giving away passes to the screening!
This is by far the most exciting thing that happened to me this weekend. Other than that, lots of rest and prepping for the holidays. I had coffee with the boss lady yesterday and she talked to me about signing me on as a full fledged employee in the new year. Now, don't get too excited. She mentioned the same thing to me last Christmas and I'm still here but through the agency. The only difference this time is that they finally have financing and this has much more potential this year that it did last year. To boot, I've decided to follow up with the progress in the new year to make sure she's called someone. I've told her that I'd love to stay but something needs to change because I can't keep working for the pennies the agency is paying me so now she knows that if she doesn't hire me, I'll start looking for work elsewhere. We'll see how things go. I'll keep you all posted.
That's all for now I guess. BTW, I sent out a few cards to a few folks out there in Blog land (you all know who you are!). Did they arrive yet?
One of my girl friends sent me this meme this morning and since I did it for her, I figured it was easy enough to copy and paste. So here it is guys, the holiday meme.

I know, I know. I said I'd strangle anyone that mentioned how close we are to Christmas but talking to my Bookcrossing buddies yesterday, someone brought up the fact that they were doing all of their shopping online. In the spirit of this, here are 10 sites I've scoped out with potential gifts for various folks. Maybe some may work for you…
- If you like your toys dirty, this could work well. Bad Ass Teddy Bears look cute but talk dirty. You can check them out at PrankPlace.com. For more selection including insulting parrots, Squirt the mini humping bulldong, and Spanky the humping monkey, check out BaronBobGifts.com.
- For those that prefer their laughs a bit cleaner, here's something fun. Talking Toy Presidents have hit the net! For $29.99 you can have a GI Joe type replica of George Dublya Bush complete with an assortment of sayings. To boot, they're not limited to Presidents. They also have Jesus, Moses and the Pope! Check them out at ToyPresidents.com .
- Gag gifts galore can be found at Stupid.com. Everything from Stupid Toys to Vintage Stupidity. They only ship in the States but they have some cool stuff!
- For Gifts that don’t' suck, check out WickedCoolStuff.com . They have tons of neat gifts from T-Shirts to Calendars.
- This is by far my favourite so far and a perfect gift for D (I'm thinking this is going to be the gift for him this year). You can now own an acre of land on the moon! At LunarLand.com you can buy acres of moon property complete with certificates of authenticity! Very cool.
- If you prefer stars to the moon, you can name a star too! Not as cheap but still very cool. You can check out all the pricing and packages and find links to international pages via StarRegistry.com.
- Sylvia at some point mentioned a place with $1 makeup! You could design your own gift basket for a girlfriend or sister! Check them out at EyesLipsFace.com.
- If you like things a little more serious, perhaps a reproduction of the Rosetta stone or of Aphrodite of Melos, MuseumStoreCompany.com is the place for you.
- For the artists in the family, the place to check out is the Louvre online shop. They ship internationally and all prices are in Euros. A little pricey for me but they have some cool stuff. Check them out at Musées de France. For closer to home, the MoMA also has an online store. They can be found at MoMAStore.org.
- For the sci-fi/fantasy fan, the best site on the net is certainly Master Replicas. These guys have Disney stuff, Star Wars, Star Trek and Lord of the Rings. Their items are amazing – most of it not exactly cheap but there are some reasonably priced items. Check them out at MasterReplicas.com.
