While at Costco earlier this week, hubby spotted something odd on the shelf. He told me about it when I got home, I gave him a hard time for not snapping a picture and while out and about today, he popped into the shop again and this time remembered to snap this picture:
Yes, for $30 you too can flash back to the late 70s/early 80s and enjoy a few games on your very own Atari 2600 and 7800. The console plugs into your tv, doesn't require any cartridges and comes pre-bundled with a few classics including "Centipede," "Missile Command" and "Asteroids." I can just see parents bringing this home and showing their "Halo"-addicted kids these games. Wish I could see the looks on their faces!

So I've floundered a bit about the release of Guitar Hero on Tour for the Nintendo DS. First I was excited, then a little worried and now completely sold.
Hubby went to the US for a car show on the weekend and brought me back this fabulous game which, he didn't realize, had only been released on Sunday. I broke it open and immediately turned the sucker on.
The setup takes a little getting used to, as does the game play itself but the game designers have done a fairly good job of adapting the wildly successful game for a portable player.
It takes a while to find a comfortable position and for me, that means close quarters with the game nearly resting on my chest but it seems to work and the disclaimer itself states that you should find a "comfortable" position, so that's going to be different for everyone. The game play itself is pretty good and this version features different music which keeps things interesting. My only concern now is that I've had the game for 4 days and I'm nearly done...unless there's more stuff to unlock - I'll keep you posted on that.
So I'm sure I look pretty funny playing it but I'm definitely having a good time and as predicted, it is pretty addicting. By far the best of the screens in the entire game is this warning screen which made me laugh:
I've already found what is likely to be my addiction this summer. Are you ready for this? Thanks to a post over at Media Bytes, I've discovered that Guitar Hero is coming to the DS this summer. Brilliantly, the game will be titled "Guitar Hero: On Tour".
As predicted, I have a new addiction: Guitar Hero III.
Hubby broke down and bought it on Saturday and I finally got to play last night. Three hours later, I'm now on the third stage of my "career" and actually getting pretty good, on the easy level. I think I'm going to have to update to medium to see how that goes.
I called it advanced Tetris. Once you get into the zone, it's pretty good. Yeah! I'm rocking it! I also found that I play better when I stand up. I'll have to post the picture that hubby took of me yesterday rocking out. Wooohoo!
This MTV mash-up album has to be one of the best things EVER. Jay-Z and Linkin Park together? I'm not complaining. Quite the opposite, I *love* it. I only bring this up because I'm about to upload the new LP album to my mp3 player. Can't wait.
Don't be surprised if the internet loads a little slower today. At 5AM this morning, a select half million gamers got the go ahead to download the beta version of Halo 3. Halo 3 you ask? Well, we'll just say it's the game I'm most looking forward to.
In other geek news, Maxim posted their list of Hot 100 girls and Second Life girl made the list at number 95 (I'll refrain from commenting on the skank that topped the list). Second Life you ask?
