It's been nearly 24 hours of crazyness but I think it's finally done.
After nearly a two week wait for iTunes to approve Before the Dawn, I decided to do a little checking around as to what the problem may be. Turns out the bloody feed didn't validate. More reading uncovered a problem with the feed which seems to stem from the fact that we were hosting the show on a free Blogger account. After a little hair pulling and mulling over the possible ways around the problem, I decided to bite the bullet and buy some web hosting.
After a bit of research, I decided on Host Papa, a Canadian company which prides itself on being "Green". They're packages seem reasonable, they've come very highly rated and to boot, they were very friendly and helpful with the initial set-up. The process of re-directing DNS servers, installing and customizing WP and getting everything transferred over took much less time than I expected and rather than being up and running next week, we're up and running now - less than 24 hours since I made the decision to move. As a nice bonus, disruption on the domain was minimal (10 minutes at the most). I must admit, I'm very impressed with myself.
Though to the reader the site looks almost identical (just a few minor differences I doubt anyone will notice), the back-end is completely different. Thankfully, I'm fairly familiar with WP and things are running fairly smoothly now. There are still a few minor glitches to deal with (mostly on the theming side) but otherwise, we're set to go. The new, now validated feed has been re-submitted to iTunes and I'm hoping they'll respond before we record the show on Saturday.
Something to consider now is that this new host allows for unlimited domains which means I could finally make use of one of the domains I've had registered and bookmarked for a personal site for over a year. We'll see if I finally break down and convert!

Yes, it's true. I have a new project.
As regular visitors may know I have a love for all things "Twilight" and what better way to share the love than to talk with another fan about the universe I love so much? I got in touch with Shannon, The Movie Moxie who regularly posts about film on her own blog, and asked her if she'd be interested in my little project as so Before the Dawn was born. The site has been up (though under wraps) for about a week but we recorded our first show this weekend and it's now up!

Ok, it's true, we didn't wing but we didn't die either. After the Credits actually did quite well (considering we've only been going for a year!) taking the 4th spot out of a field of 20 with 11.3% of the votes. Thanks to everyone who headed over there and showed us some love! :)

Last week I asked for help from you, the lovely readers, in regards to a few awards that we were up for. I'd like to start off by saying "Thank You" for taking the time to vote - I do really appreciate it.
The Best of 604 festivities took place last night and it was a fun evening. It was particularly fun to put faces to names I've seen and had contact with around the web and the night was a huge success, raising $1,800 for the Food Bank.
The wonderful Miss 604, has the skinny on the winners and though we didn't win, it was a great honour to be mentioned among the likes of Kerry Anne and Airdrie's "Lip Gloss and Laptops" and the brilliant Dave Olson's "Postcards from Gravelly Beach".
Again, thanks to everyone who voted for us, everyone who came out to the event and the wonderful Rebecca for organizing the entire thing.

I kind of buggered up. I had emailed Dale and Colleen about podcasting on Sunday and then I bailed. I didn’t do it on purpose, I simply didn’t get up.
Walked down to K’s on Saturday night with the promise from hubby that we’d go and have a few drinks and then walk home - except a few drinks turned into way too many drinks and the next thing you know there’s poker, followed by Trivial Pursuit and god knows what else. It was 6AM when we finally staggered home and into bed. I didn’t get up until 4:30. Wasted day. We managed to take the videos back to Rogers, I made soup for dinner and that was the extent of my Sunday.

Asking for help is not my forte though when I have to, I don’t mind asking. The hurdle I can’t seem to get over is the asking for help over the web. It doesn’t feel quite right – like it’s not quite personal enough but frankly, I need your help.
After the Credits, the podcast that I cohost with the fabulous Dale and Colleen is getting some attention and has been nominated for 2 great awards.
This is one I didn’t nominate us for but found out about it via Hummingbird604. I was a bit surprised but passed it along to all my friends thinking we’d never make it past the nomination round. Go figure, they voted for us and we did make it to the finals. I urge you to take a quick moment and head over there to vote for us! Yes, it’s an honour to be nominated but it would be even better to win!
The other set of awards is the Best of 604 which is organized by Vancouver blogger extraordinaire Miss604. This one, I’m not ashamed to say, I nominated myself but then, I figured that with the rich (and it’s very rich) community, we’d be among a list of a few dozen. Surprisingly, we’re in the running among a rather small group which is both exciting and terrifying. What does make me feel better: it’s a very elite group.
So please, my one request for the year, head on over there and share in the love! And feel free to pass along the link – the more the merrier! ;)
Somehow, after podcasting, rather than getting on with it and editing the show, I ended up killing nearly 3 hours downloading, updating and customizing Firefox 3.
Now that it's all "ready", I'm ready to edit the podcast but I'm not sure I have the energy for it. Will have to try!

We'd planned to record our February preview last weekend but bucketloads of snow stopped us from actually managing to get together so we re-scheduled for last night. A bit more snow, some light rain and it looked like things were going well until one car got stuck and we spent a good 45 minutes to get it unstuck (thanks in part to Leeny's afinity to carry lumber in her truck at all times).
We finally recorded the show (complete with EXCELLENT sound) and I edited the thing together last night. So I'm listening to it to do the show notes and I discover that I somehow managed to lose about 10 minutes of audio. Gone. Caput. Not sure what happened. I do know that I forgot to clear my SD car which meant I had to switch cards but that still doesn't account for the lost audio. Bloody hell. I guess it just wasn't meant to be.
Yesterday was the date of our Public Information Meeting in which we introduced the neighbours to the Tower 3 and the commercial space of our project. Much better turn out this time around and now that people have seen the shopping, the consensus is that the City of NW needs the project to revitalize the downtown core. It went very well with positive feedback all around. We were looking out the window and the project and I don't think anyone quite realizes the height of these things. We're already 10 stories up - but that's all parking. The 26 (or whatever it is...not quite sure) stories of suites are still to come.
I had to work until 6 but on the plus side, the boss lady decided that I didn't have to stay and at 5:40 she took me home. I think she just wanted to get out of there and to be honest, I can't blame her - some strange folk showed up.
I spent the rest of the evening watching hockey and editing audio for our next podcast. I plan to just add some finishing stuff tonight and then it'll be ready to go live!
At the show on Tuesday, I put the video aspect of my new camera to the test. I managed to record two short videos before security asked me to stop: "Pictures are OK but no videotaping please!" I complied. I've uploaded both videos to Google video (since they have a larger limit on the video size) and I must say, they're not too bad. The second one is better than the first but, you can enjoy either/or/neither.
The previous post was a test of the new (to me) Flickr option to "blog" a picture. Totally awesome.
The day is almost done and I'm still swamped with work. I have tons more to do before the end of the day and a whack of stuff to squeeze in this weekend plus I'm still trying to recuperate from the illness. Needless to say I'm starting to feel the pressure.
On a good note, I did manage to post our second podcast and this one is much more in line with our goal of 10 minutes or less to make for easy listening. So make sure you check it out here. And, of course, comments and criticisms are always welcome - and no, you're not going to hurt my feelings.
